Job Description:
Provide peer advising, mentoring, and referral to resources to support current and prospective Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) transfer students. Peer Mentor's model success in the sciences and assist the S.T.E.M. Connections Coordinator with outreach efforts and dissemination of information about UCR, the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences, and STEM major requirements. JobDescription.pdf
Training:
Students selected for the position must complete ongoing peer advisor training to learn CNAS major requirements and to develop peer counseling and presentation skills. Week 0 (Monday through Wednesday) of Fall quarter is typically reserved for formal 3 day training.
Peer Mentor Selection:
Based on the completed application and interview (required)
Pay/Hours:
$15.99/hour for 10-12 hours per week
Number of Open Positions:
6-8
Employment Start Date:
September 19th, 2022 [Fall Quarter] Summer 2022 part-time work may be available
Minimum Qualifications:
- CNAS Major
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and must be in good academic standing
- Satisfactory completion of either Calculus, General Physics or General Chemistry series
- 90 units completed at the time of application. UCR Transfer students need one-quarter of UCR coursework completed
- Special consideration for current UCR transfer student, not a minimum qualification
