UCR Academic Calendar

UCR Library
The UCR Library serves as an information commons and intellectual hub for campus research and study. It offers workshops, finals stress relief, and laptop loans, fostering academic success and community.
CNAS Undergraduate Academic Advising Center (UAAC)
The CNAS Undergraduate Academic Advising Center (UAAC) at UCR offers hybrid appointments and in-person drop-in advising through the General Undergraduate Advising Check-In (GUAC) at 1223 Pierce Hall. Get guidance on course planning, major requirements, and more.
Pre-Professional Advising Center (PPAC)
The Pre-Professional Advising Center (PPAC), formerly the Health Professions Advising Center (HPAC), offers guidance on coursework, health-related experiences, and the application process. It supports students pursuing graduate or professional programs in health and law, helping them strengthen their academic and extracurricular profiles.
Academic Resource Center (ARC)
Offers a wide range of academic and personal growth programs to support student success. From tutoring and writing assistance to the ACE peer mentoring program and R’Success workshops, these resources are designed to empower you to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
Tutorial Assistance Program (TAP)
This service offers a range of study skills strategies and techniques designed to promote critical thinking and unlock academic potential. Free tutoring is available to all UCR students, covering various subjects and disciplines. Students can access support through walk-in or appointment-based sessions, which are held in small groups and last about 50 minutes.
Supplemental Instruction (SI)
UCR's Supplemental Instruction (SI) program offers peer-led study sessions for challenging courses. Students can collaborate, develop study skills, and prepare for exams with faculty-approved activities. Choose between Open SI (voluntary) or Learning Community SI (mandatory twice a week). UCR's SI program has been certified by the International Center for Supplemental Instruction since 2017.
Assistance, Coaching, and Encouragement (ACE)
Aid students in developing essential academic skills and effective study habits that contribute to long-term academic success. Whether you're transitioning to UCR, facing challenges with your GPA, or need support with study strategies, ACE pairs you with a Peer Mentor who provides guidance, accountability, and support to help you thrive.
Writing & Reading Support (WRS)
provides one-on-one consultations and workshops to assist undergraduate students with writing and reading at any stage of the process. Tutors are UCR students from various majors and offer support in all academic disciplines. WRS complements in-class instruction and office hours.
Transfer Success Program
The Transfer Success Program connects you with essential resources, campus partners, and events to help you thrive academically and socially. Discover study spaces, workshops, and support tailored to your needs.
Blue, Gold & Black Mentorship Program (BGBMP)
The Blue, Gold & Black Mentorship Program (BGBMP) is a year-long mentorship initiative aimed at supporting incoming freshman and transfer students, with a focus on the Black student experience. Through guidance from academic advisors, graduate students, faculty, staff, and undergraduate peers, participants gain valuable insights to navigate their academic journey at UCR. The program fosters retention, community building, and a sense of belonging, offering both in-person and virtual opportunities for mentorship.
University Honors
The University Honors program helps students succeed with opportunities for scholarship, creativity, and innovation. Benefits include priority registration, counseling, and capstone support.
Basic Needs
Basic Needs Department
At UC Riverside's Basic Needs Department, students have access to vital resources designed to ease the challenges of college life. Whether facing food insecurity, housing displacement, or financial hardships, students are encouraged to connect with the department for the support they need.
R'Pantry
R'Pantry provides essential support to UC Riverside students by offering non-perishable food, hygiene items, and household goods. Located at the Highlander Union Building and the Student Health & Counseling Center, it offers both appointment-based and walk-in services to ensure students have access to vital resources during challenging times. Focusing on wellness, R'Pantry also connects students with campus and community support, creating a strong safety net for the UCR community.
Economic Crisis Response Team (ECRT) Grant
The Economic Crisis Response Team (ECRT) offers emergency financial grants to students facing crises that affect their basic needs, such as rent, utilities, and essential services like WiFi and phone bills. This program, a collaboration between UCR’s Basic Needs Department and Financial Aid, provides crucial support for students who have exhausted other resources. By offering up to $1,000 in assistance, ECRT helps students navigate financial challenges so they can focus on their academic success.
ScottyEats
The ScottyEats program helps combat food insecurity by recovering surplus food from the Glasgow Dining Hall every Tuesday. This food is then redistributed to students in need at the Bear's Den from 10-11pm. Students are encouraged to bring their own containers to take part in this vital initiative.
Meal Support
The Meal Support program, in partnership with Everytable, offers Highlanders experiencing food insecurity two freshly pre-made meals per week, one per day, starting January 16th, 2024. Meals are available at the Basic Needs Center (Costo Hall 110) for currently enrolled students. A Virtual Queue is available to ensure easy access. Updates on meal availability are posted on the program's Instagram (@ucrbasicneeds) and the website.
CalFresh
CalFresh at UC Riverside offers eligible students up to $292 a month for nutritious food. Benefits can be used at local grocery stores, farmers markets, Scotty's in the HUB, Market at Glen Mor, and online. CalFresh interns at The Well can help determine eligibility.
Housing Assistance
Housing Assistance at UC Riverside supports students facing housing insecurity through two key services:
Housing Navigation: Assists students by connecting them with a BN Housing Specialist to create a housing plan, identify barriers, and explore resources to aid in their housing search.
Short-Term Emergency Housing: Provides temporary housing for undergraduate and graduate students experiencing displacement or homelessness, ensuring safety and time to secure permanent housing. Placement is based on space availability and individual circumstances.
Security Deposit Grant
The Basic Needs Security Deposit Grant supports students transitioning to independent living by offering a one-time grant of up to $2,000. This grant helps remove financial barriers, allowing students to focus on their education. The application process typically takes 2-3 weeks and is available to eligible students moving into off-campus housing. Note: This grant does not apply to on-campus housing.
Adulting 101: IRL Program
The Adulting 101: IRL Program helps students succeed in basic needs, career readiness, and financial wellness. Through workshops, resources, and mentorship, participants gain the skills to overcome challenges and achieve their personal and academic goals. The program focuses on three key areas: Basic Needs, Career Development, and Financial Wellness. Students must complete six activities, including two from each area, over two quarters and attend an orientation. Through program participation, students will have the opportunity to receive a Basic Needs grant up to $500 through the course of the program. Application period is in October!
Butterfly Meal Swipe (BMS)
The Butterfly Meal Swipe (BMS) Program in collaboration with Undocumented Student Programs, promotes food security for undocumented students. Through this initiative, students receive 33 meal swipes each Winter and Spring quarter, loaded onto their R'Card for use at approved dining locations. The program also includes an informational session with a Basic Needs Intern, offering details about additional food resources on and off-campus. Applications are open each quarter for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Student Parents
The Student Parents Program offers essential resources to support parents balancing academics and family life. This program provides access to childcare assistance, grocery aid, financial help, and more. Students can also access services such as CalFresh, WIC, and other community resources tailored to families. The program is designed to help student parents succeed academically while meeting their basic needs.
